Blenheim Palace

Today we went to check out Blenheim Palace, which is about 15 minutes north of Oxford.  The enormous palace is situated on extensive grounds, which were designed by the famous landscape architect Capability Brown.  The palace was built in the early 1700s and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We focused on the grounds today, and didn't go inside the palace (we have an annual pass and can go back to see it sometime!).  Today they were hosting an American car show.  While it was fun seeing the Stars and Stripes flying, along with left-hand-drive vehicles, we had to laugh at some of the cars on show... a Dodge Ram pickup truck, some newish Mustangs and Corvettes, several Chevy Caprice Classics, a 90s era Pontiac Sunfire.... there were some legitimate vintage cars, though, and it was intriguing to think of how they got here from the U.S.

The highlight was probably the hedge maze, and the kids enjoyed riding the small train that connects different areas of the grounds.  Beautiful weather, but it did get a bit hot after a while out in that sun!
