On Friday, we took Oma and Papa to the airport and said good-bye. The kids were sad, but our next visitors arrived that very evening!
We spent Saturday morning and afternoon giving our grand tour of Oxford. We've walked around Oxford city center many times, of course, but I never tire of it. The academic scenery and "dreaming spires" are so beautiful, and I always end up seeing something new.
We started out by climbing Carfax Tower for a view of the city (this was new for me!). It's fun to look down the High Street from that vantage point. We strolled down Cornmarket and walked through the Covered Market, where we bought some fruit and ice cream. We admired the architecture in Radcliffe Square. Then we stopped in at The Grand Cafe, where we ordered high tea for lunch.
We spent some time in the Botanic Gardens, enjoying the scenery and the beautiful weather. Our last stop was at the Museum of the History of Science on Broad Street next to the Sheldonian Theatre. There were many interesting scientific instruments and documents to check out there, including a preserved blackboard with Einstein's writing on it!
