Harlech Castle, North Wales

 12 August 2023, Saturday

Our Saturday evening destination was Harlech castle, which overlooks Cardigan Bay and the Irish Sea on the west coast of North Wales.  It is one of several tough, fortified castles built by Edward I as he usurped Wales into his English domain in the late 13th century.  The castle's perch on top of a rocky crag was a great defensive location.  It was windy up there, but worth it for the views.

Heading down to the water gate. The sea originally
came much closer to the base of the castle.

Warming up at the The Plas.
