Port Meadow Ride

 1 August 2023, Tuesday

We biked a 7-mile loop up the Thames Path to Wolvercote, then back south through the Port Meadow.  The Port Meadow has been used since ancient times for grazing.  It is on the banks of the Thames and in the river floodplain, making it a rich pasture for cattle, horses and birds.  There are also ancient burial grounds here.  And we encountered the herd of Port Meadow Ponies!  They live in the meadow all year long and are pretty friendly.

  1. Claire must have really enjoyed meeting the ponies. Aunt Karen Battaglia in in hospital with serious wound infection. It is always very difficult to get them to heal especially if you are physically compromised. It is of course a pressure sore making it more difficult to get a nice blood flow to help heal. Hope Alden had a nice Birthday!!!!
