Today was D's birthday! We went into London to celebrate. We enjoyed some great food, a Proms concert, and a visit to the London Science Museum (the latter two events are in separate blog posts).
The Oxford rail station was closed this weekend for maintenance, so we tried driving to London this time... it worked out great. We reserved parking at the Royal Garden Hotel, which is at the southeast corner of Kensington Gardens. That put us in a nice position to walk to the Royal Albert Hall and the Science Museum.
The hotel also had great dining options! We had lunch at the Park Terrace restaurant. Since that experience was so good, we made dinner reservations at their 10th floor restaurant, Min Jiang. This was fantastic - we had amazing views of the city across Hyde Park. The Chinese food was delicious. We had a half Beijing duck, carved right at our table and served with tasty accompaniments. The kids enjoyed the food as well, and we like giving them unique, elegant dining experiences.
It was a happy birthday :)
