Today we visited Winchester, where an artifact is on display from the famous legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. This table was constructed in the 13th century, by King Edward I, who adhered to the tenets of the Arthur legend. The table's painting is from the 1500s, when King Henry VIII had it redecorated with the names of the 12 knights... and a depiction of Arthur, who here bears a strong resemblance to Henry VIII :)
The table hangs in the Great Hall, the only remaining room from the medieval Winchester Castle. The hall was constructed in the early 13th century by King Henry III. The details of the hall were interesting, and there was a whole box of dress up clothes for the kids.
We spent some time on the Winchester High Street. It was a fun visit!
