This morning we said good-bye to Oma and Papa :-( We drove through pouring down rain and dropped them off at Queen's Terminal at Heathrow airport. We had such a fun, action-packed visit with them!
To avoid backups on the M25 and M40 caused by the rainstorms, I chose a more rural route home through the Chilterns AONB. We stopped in Marlow for lunch. The kids spotted a cafe while we drove through town to the carpark, so we headed there for some great sandwiches.
There is a cool one-lane suspension bridge over the Thames as one enters Marlow from the southernly direction. I enjoyed the bridge but was unable to snap a picture whilst yielding to oncoming traffic.
Our lunch coincided with a dramatic shift in weather, and we exited the cafe into the sunshine. This allowed for a fine stroll along the High Street, where we perused charity shops and stopped into Waitrose for groceries. The second leg of the drive home through the Chilterns was glorious. It turned into a fine afternoon out!
