We spent the day in Oxford, and our first stop was a self-guided tour of the Sheldonian Theatre. Designed by Christopher Wren, the building was constructed in the mid-17th century and is a central Oxford landmark.
I was particularly interested in going up into the 8-sided cupola to see the Oxford spires from above. This is actually not the original dome; this one was designed in the early 19th century and replaced a smaller cupola. At any rate, the cupola views did not disappoint!
The interior of the theatre is also fantastic. D and I saw an orchestra concert there last summer.
