Today we drove north to Stratford to tour the historic Shakespearean town. Seeing so much well-preserved Tudor architecture was amazing. One can understand why it was bustling with tourists.
We stopped outside Shakespeare's birthplace and enjoyed a stroll down the High Street. We visited Shakespeare's Tudor school and guildhall (separate post), then walked to Holy Trinity Church, where Shakespeare was laid to rest.
Our tour of Stratford ended with a lovely walk along the River Avon. We saw the Royal Shakespeare Company's theatre and dreamed about staying for a play... The Merry Wives of Windsor was on that night... maybe someday we'll return when the little ones are a bit older!
