Our first museum stop in Bath was the Fashion Museum. It has an interesting collection of clothes from the 17th century onward. It adds new examples of modern fashion every so often, so it showcases a wide range of fashionable styles. There was a special exhibit featuring significant dresses worn by Queen Alexandra (Queen Victoria's daughter-in-law), Queen Mary of Teck, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and Princess Margaret.
The Fashion Museum is housed in the Bath Assembly Rooms, an 18th century hall for balls and aristocratic gatherings. It was damaged by WWII bombing, but has been rebuilt, and the chandeliers are original. We saw two sedan chairs, which carried VIPs to the fancy balls.
